- Amberley
has its own railway station on the Arun Valley Line, with regular hourly services to Bognor Regis, Portsmouth and London. Amberley is situated at the foot of the South Downs. Its neighbours are Storrington, Pulborough and Arundel. The village is noted for its many thatched cottages. One of the attractions in Amberley is Amberley Working Museum which is next door to the railway station, the museum holds regular events.
To the north of the village is the tidal plain of the River Arun, known as Amberley Wild Brooks. This wetland area is a Site of Special Scientific Interest which floods in winter and is known for its wildfowl. There are a number of tea rooms and public houses within Amberley which serve a great variety of local fare. Amberley also has a castle, which is now a Hotel. The 'castle' is in fact a fortified manor House next to which is a Norman Church, the Parish Church of St Michael.
Amberley Station is within the South Downs National Park and has great walks including the South Downs Way and walks along the river.
Amberley Museum and Heritage Centre is a great family day out with a host of special events throughout the year from the traditional christmas and holiday events for children to an Ale festival for the grown ups, crafts, vintage vehicle rallys and exhibitions, situated right next door to the railway station and within minutes walk of the River Arun and some wonderful scenic walks.
