P/T, 17.5 hours p/w until March 2020
£20,413.50 per annum (pro rata salary of £10,206.84)

The Community Rail Education Officer will develop and deliver Independent Travel Training to young people. This new role, in partnership with East Sussex County Council’s Active Access for Growth programme, will work with secondary schools, colleges, training providers and businesses from Newhaven to Hastings, to promote sustainable travel options to young people who are seeking work, education or training. Building relationships with partners and devising creative, targeted ways of engaging young people is central to the role. You will keep accurate records of outcomes, survey users and devise case studies to demonstrate how the project is delivered.

In addition, you will assist the Manager with all aspects of developing, sustaining and taking forward local station partnerships on the Seaford-Brighton Line. You will work with station partnership groups to develop projects and engage the local community, gain funding for projects, and handle marketing and communications.

We require a self-motivated person with a proven track record in working with and inspiring young people, excellent project management and communication skills, experience of working with partners and community engagement, and an interest in sustainable transport.
