•             Buxted

is a small rural village situated within the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. During the 15th century the area became rich from the iron industry supplying the forges and furnaces in the area. When the iron industry in the south east collapsed during the 1800s, the village returned to its rural roots. In the early 19th century Buxted moved from private park land to a new settlement next to the railway line where the village stands today.

Walking from Buxted Station

The station is in the heart of the village giving you access to 2 great pubs and the local shop. Also from the station there are two circular walks detailed on the ESCC website 'Paths to Prosperity' which take you into the stunning countryside around Buxted. 

The Buxted Walk is a 4 mile circular route around Buxted Park, a famous deer park with hotel and gardens. The walk is graded as EASY. The Hadlow Down walk is a 6.5 mile circular route graded as AVERAGE. A small extension to the Hadlow Down Walk will also take you to Wilderness Wood a local award winning sustainable woodland with cafe, shop, courses and family fun all year round.
