Helping schools deliver the curriculum
Arunside Primary, Horsham took up the opportunity of a Station visit and train ride by using it to experience what it might have been like to be an evacuee during World War 2, as part of their History topic.
What is Go Learn?
Sussex Community Rail Partnership (SCRP) and Southern Railway have got together to deliver travel sessions to schools, to help children develop confidence and skills for independent travel on public transport in a project called Go Learn. There are a number of modules related to travelling by train, which are all provided free of charge to schools around the Southern network.
Safety on the Railways
Delivered by Southern’s Rail Enforcement Officers (REOs) at Safety in Action / Junior Citizen events across the Southern Rail area.
Delivered by Angie Lowen , the SCRP Education Officer, who has over 30 years of teaching experience. She keeps the workshops as interactive as possible so that the children are engaged and stimulated.
Station visit and train ride
Following on from the workshops you might be interested in doing a Station Visit to your local station with Angie, possibly including a train ride, with the opportunity of further projects in the future that may involve artwork for the local stations, poetry on the line and station gardening projects.
How can you get involved?
Workshops will be available from September 2017 so if you would like to book a workshop please contact Angie by email at:
This is a rolling programme so Workshops and Station Visits can be booked right through to the end of the 2017-2018 academic year.
